Amid ongoing fluctuations in global chemical fertilizer prices, the Ministry of Commerce has issued the latest “Recommended Retail Prices for Chemical Fertilizers” for May 2026. The announcement aims to guide retailers in setting fair prices and help farmers more easily monitor fertilizer costs. According to the recommended chemical fertilizer prices for May 2026, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province recorded the lowest fertilizer prices for several formulas, while Narathiwat Province showed the highest prices in many categories. This clearly reflects the impact of logistics costs and transportation distances on fertilizer pricing.

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya serves as one of Thailand’s major distribution hubs. Its proximity to Bangkok, ports, fertilizer factories, and large storage facilities helps reduce transportation costs and enables faster product distribution. As a result, retail fertilizer prices in the province are generally lower than in many other areas.

In contrast, Narathiwat is located at the far end of transportation routes in southern Thailand. The long distance from manufacturing centers and major distribution warehouses results in higher transportation, logistics, and operational costs. Consequently, fertilizer prices in Narathiwat are among the highest in the country for several fertilizer formulas.

These findings indicate that although fertilizer prices are based on the same central pricing structure, transportation and logistics costs remain key factors influencing regional price differences. The announcement of “recommended retail prices” is considered an important measure by the Ministry of Commerce to help manage agricultural living costs, prevent excessive pricing, and promote fairness for both farmers and fertilizer retailers.

Furthermore, if fertilizer products are sold at prices higher than the recommended levels without reasonable justification, offenders may face imprisonment for up to seven years, a fine of up to 140,000 baht, or both.

Farmers can follow the latest recommended fertilizer prices through the websites of the Ministry of Commerce and the Department of Internal Trade to compare prices before making purchasing decisions during each planting season.
