The earthquake that occurred in Bangkok yesterday reminded me of the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011.

During the 2011 earthquake, I experienced intense horizontal shaking in a high-rise building in Tokyo. Compared to that, yesterday's tremor (March 28) was not as severe. However, given my doubts about the earthquake-resistant design standards of buildings in Thailand, I felt a bit scared.

Despite being about five hours after the quake, the trains were still stopped, and the roads were overflowing with people trying to get home.

In the condominium, there were visible cracks on the walls of all the rooms.

According to the Thais I spoke with, it was the first major earthquake in over 40 years.

昨日発生したバンコクでの地震は、2011年3月11日の東北大震災を思い出させました。

2011年の地震の際、東京都内の高層ビルでもの凄い横揺れを経験しました。その時の揺れよりは昨日（3月28日）の揺れはたいしたことはなかったです。ただし、タイの建物の耐震設計基準に疑問を感じていたことから、少し怖かったです。　

地震発生から5時間程度経過していたにもかかわらず、鉄道が止まっていたことから、コンドミニアムへの帰路、道路は帰宅者で溢れていました。

コンドミニアムの全ての部屋の壁には明らかなクラックが認められました。タイ人に聞くと、40数年ぶりの大きな地震だったそうです。
